Hello, friends.
Five years. I was careful. I masked. My doctor suggested that I may not need a mask right now, though soon. One week of school and I have Covid.
I wish I was surprised.
I started feeling bad yesterday (Friday as I write this) and took a test this morning.

My family and I live in an apartment. A very open apartment. I have probably brought plague upon my family. I’m wearing a mask as I write this. In my home. It’s probably too late.
Anyway, that’s where I am right now. Shoulda-woulda-coulda. It’s my own damn fault.
So, let’s get into this week’s updates.
Welcome to the 85th installment of Gauthic Times, the newsletter about my writing, my life, and rock ‘n roll.
Becoming a paid-Patron on my Patreon would help me write even more. On Patreon, I write about things in more detail than I do in the newsletter or on my website and include the actual names of my works-in-progress and not just codenames. The lowest tier for Patreon is $1 but at $5/month, we’re looking at some serious help.
If every subscriber or reader of this newsletter, or every social media follower I have became a Patron at even just the $1 tier, I could write more and pay my bills better. The same would happen if they bought copies of my books.
You can also buy me a coffee through Ko-Fi.
Grab Echoes on the Pond if you haven’t already. If you have bought it already, books make great gifts! And if you’ve read Echoes on the Pond, please consider reviewing on Amazon or Goodreads, and wherever else books are sold and reviewed.
You can also get my collection Catalysts or my novellas Alice on the Shelf and Shadowed.
Anyway, let’s do this!

Even though this was the first week back at school with students–and my new schedule and position has me walking nearly four miles a day–I forced myself to revise Project: Monster and finished it. At the end, I’d edited out around 31 pages, or 10,000 words. An author friend who read the book suggested I cut 50-100 pages. I’m impressed I cut 31.
Then, as I thought about it on the way to work one morning, I realized I could probably cut more. There are several POVs throughout the novel. Personally, I enjoy big novels with lots of POVs, so I tend to write that way. Part of the 31 pages I edited out was removing one character’s POV. The more I think about, the more I think that maybe we don’t really need more than the two main character’s POVs.
So, I’ll start with one character that I find kind of vile. He’ll still be in the novel because he’s important but his POV–which I was never comfortable with–will be removed. We’ll see how that goes.

Paid-subscribers on Patreon get an art/comic book update here. Become a Patron and see what’s in the works!

Also, paid-subscribers on Patreon get some thoughts on supporting T—p, especially educators who do so. A friend thought it was terrific but did say it could be controversial. Become a Patron and see if it should go into a future newsletter.

My friend, Randy Lee Medeiros, has released a new album! His band, Red Reveal, released II this week. I was going to listen to it this weekend but with my head pounding from Covid, I have not. I will, though.
If you’re a fan of Metallica, Van Halen, or just good ol’ hard rock ‘n roll, Red Reveal is for you. Trust me. Randy and his crew have the goods!

I’m telling you, check it out and let him rock you into oblivion!
Thank you for reading and for your support.
If you’d like to see what I could do if I wrote full-time, share this newsletter with others and consider a paid subscription.
You can also tip/donate on Ko-Fi.
Of course, you could also become a Patron on my Patreon, which has a lot more information about my works-in-progress and the books I’ll be querying, including titles and some simple, non-spoiler details.
Get my collection Catalysts, my novellas Alice on the Shelf and Shadowed, and definitely order Echoes on the Pond, out now!
If you haven’t left a review on Amazon, Goodreads, or anyplace else for Echoes on the Pond, please consider doing so. This greatly helps sell copies.
And maybe call your local brick-and-mortar bookstore and demand they carry it! I’ll even sign copies! Well, if they’re local to me. That means Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and maybe some of the other New England states.
Thank you for subscribing!
