It’s ALIVE!!
So, I’ve been hinting that I’m working on a new blog/site. And I’m happy enough with it to announce it and see what you think.
It’s called MediaBio and it’s a combination of commentary, memoir, criticism, and humor. It’s also, hopefully, a way to facilitate conversations with readers and bring people on a trip down memory lane. It came about from some essays I wrote on my LiveJournal about the Nightmare on Elm Street series, Lost, and the Toy Story movies. I got a pretty good reaction and found I enjoyed writing the essays so decided to try it on a larger scale.
For those of you who have followed my column American Gauthic in Dark Discoveries, then you’ll have an idea of what’s to come on MediaBio. Each week I’ll post a new essay/topic and in between those larger posts, I’ll add what I’m calling MediaBio Quickies, small interludes that may or may not compliment the bigger posts.
You will note, should you visit the new blog, that there are already three big posts and one Quickie. Eventually, I’ll be reposting some of the posts I’ve made on LiveJournal that fit in there.
I hope you’ll join me on this adventure and hip others to it, as well.
Not Abandoned
Once I got this site up and running, I began working on another that I referenced in the first post here. I’m not quite ready to go “live” with it yet, but you’ll know when it is live.
I didn’t get to experience as much of Necon as I would have liked (three panels on Friday only) because I wasn’t feeling well and left. Maybe next year….
I’ve begun planning something for the Special Content tab above, so stay tuned.
I began a short story the other day, we’ll see where that goes.
I’m reading Justin Cronin’s The Passage and am enjoying the hell out of it.

Working On the Website (All Day Long, I Don’t Stop)
I’ve been working on this site for a couple of hours, at least. I added cover images to the short stories and nonfiction pages and added a Catalysts page. Hopefully, it’s easy to navigate and looks all right. There will be more changes coming up in the next few days/weeks, I’m sure. Pamela said I should add an image to the front page so I’ll probably to that at some point (of course, that image will probably end up on every page, so I guess I better make it a good one).
One of the things I noticed as I worked on the bibliographies was the small amount of credits considering the decade since “Icarus Falling” was first published in Greg Gifune‘s Burning Sky: Tales of Science Fiction Terror. Even more glaring to me is that once “The Growth of Alan Ashley” was published in Borderlands 5, it seemed that the only names one sees is Borderlands or Dark Discoveries. Now, I’m not complaining, I’m going to explain. Or at least try to, because I’m sure the following is going to read a lot more like excuses than reasons (and that’s primarily because they are). New Look, Same Place
Welcome to Gautham: Bill Gauthier.com! Or welcome back, as the case may be. As you can see, I’ve redesigned the website and relaunched it. I’m not done yet, though. Right now when you go to http://www.billgauthier.com you are redirected to a WordPress site. This will be changed soon. Also, I’m hoping to change some of the look of the site with the help from some friends. Please bear with me as I tinker and change things.
2010 is already more than halfway through and I’m eagerly awaiting the publication of my novella Alice on the Shelf, which should be out this year. I’m also planning on launching a completely new, self-contained blog that is not about me or my writing career…well…not really. I’ll fill you in as I get closer to the launch of that site.
This coming weekend I’m attending my first-ever Necon. I won’t be staying overnight and won’t be there the whole weekend, but I’m hoping to go and meet some legends as well as people I have only “spoken to” via e-mail. If you’re attending the conference, please say hi.
Things have been slow lately regarding writing news because my non-writing life has been so busy. That’s an excuse, I know, and a pretty lame one, but I remain dedicated and will get back on course.
